Best Oura Ring alternatives, including no ring at all (October 2026)
The best Oura ring alternative depends on why you are switching. If the membership is the issue, RingConn Gen 2 Air ($199) and Ultrahuman Ring AIR ($349) are rings whose makers list no recurring subscription fee. If you are open to a wrist device, Apple Watch, Polar Loop ($199.99) and Amazfit Helio Strap ($99.99) work without a monthly fee. If you want no wearable at all, an iPhone app with camera HRV covers part of the job.
Prices and features below come from each maker's own pages, checked in October 2026. They change often and vary by region. Svanu is our app; it is not a ring, and we include it only in the phone-only and app sections.
What does Oura cost in October 2026?
Oura Ring 5 starts at $399 for the silver finish on Oura's store, and Oura membership costs $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US, with the first month free. Oura says the ring and app work without membership, but insights are much more limited. Over two years with yearly membership, the total is about $539.
According to Oura's membership page, membership covers Oura Advisor (its AI health companion), personalized insights across sleep, activity and stress, and new features as they are added. Without membership you can still export all your data as CSV through the Membership Hub. Oura says it does not sell your data.
Oura is a mature product with a large set of features. If those features matter to you, the membership may be worth it. The alternatives below are for people who prefer a one-time cost, a different form factor or no wearable.

Two rings checked for this guide list no subscription. RingConn Gen 2 Air costs $199 and its product page lists the subscription fee as free. Ultrahuman Ring AIR costs $349, and Ultrahuman's FAQ says there are no recurring subscription fees for accessing your data. Among non-ring options, Polar Loop and Amazfit Helio Strap also list no monthly fees.

Which smart ring is the best Oura alternative?
RingConn Gen 2 Air is the lowest-priced ring here at $199, with up to 10 days of battery and no subscription fee listed. Ultrahuman Ring AIR costs $349, with no recurring fees for data access and optional paid add-ons such as cycle and cardio features. Both are one-time purchases according to their makers.
RingConn Gen 2 Air. RingConn describes it as an entry-level smart ring with core health features included. The product page lists $199, up to 10 days of battery, 90-minute fast charging and a subscription fee of "Free". Battery runtime depends on ring size, per the FAQ.
Ultrahuman Ring AIR. Ultrahuman's US buy page lists Ring AIR at $349 next to the newer Ring PRO at $479. Its FAQ says there are no recurring subscription fees for accessing your data. Optional time-limited add-ons are sold separately, such as Cycle and Ovulation Pro ($39 for 1 year) and Cardio Adaptability ($24 for 1 year).
When you compare rings, check sizing first. Oura notes that Ring 5 sizing differs from other models, and most makers offer a sizing kit. A ring that fits poorly gives worse sensor contact and worse data.
Is Apple Watch a good Oura alternative?
Apple Watch is a strong Oura alternative if you will wear a watch to bed. It records sleep stages with a nightly sleep score, overnight vitals and HRV on most models, and Series 12 and Ultra 4 include a Readiness app with a 0 to 10 score. There is no subscription for built-in health features.
Apple's Readiness score combines recent activity, overnight vitals (heart rate, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, HRV and blood oxygen) compared with your baseline, daytime heart rate and recent sleep score data. It needs at least 7 nights of sleep with the watch in the past 49 to build that baseline.
The main trade-off is battery. Apple lists up to 18 hours of normal use for SE 3 and up to 24 hours for Series 12, compared with multi-day battery claims for rings. You need a charging routine that leaves the watch on your wrist at night. In return you get a screen, workout tracking and notifications. If you want readiness on an older Apple Watch, a recovery app adds it; see Svanu vs Bevel vs Athlytic.
Can a band replace an Oura ring?
A band can replace a ring if you are fine wearing something on your wrist at night. Polar Loop costs $199.99 with no monthly fees, up to 8 days of battery, nightly HRV, sleep stages with a daily score and Nightly Recharge. Amazfit Helio Strap costs $99.99 with no subscription, up to 10 days of battery, sleep HRV and a sleep score.
Bands also track daytime activity and workouts. Polar lists automatic training detection and training load, and Amazfit lists heart rate recovery and a daily readiness view. For a fuller comparison of bands, see our guide to Whoop alternatives with no subscription.
Can you replace Oura with no ring at all?
Partly. An iPhone app can measure heart rate variability (HRV) with the rear camera and flash in about 20 to 30 seconds, which gives a morning recovery snapshot. Steps come from the iPhone. Sleep data needs a device that writes to Apple Health. Without any wearable, you lose continuous overnight data, so this route is best for testing whether tracking helps you.
Camera HRV measures pulse timing through photoplethysmography, the same optical principle wearables use. A morning camera reading is a different measurement from overnight HRV, so compare camera readings only with other camera readings. Our guide on how to measure HRV with your iPhone camera explains the method and how to get a clean reading.
How much does each Oura alternative cost over two years?

A phone-only setup costs nothing up front if you own an iPhone.

How do you choose an Oura alternative?
Decide on form factor first, then cost model, then software. If you love wearing a ring, compare RingConn and Ultrahuman against Oura on comfort, battery and app. If you can wear a watch, Apple Watch adds a screen and workouts. If you want no device, try a phone-based app before you buy hardware.
| If you want | Consider |
|---|---|
| A ring at the lowest price | RingConn Gen 2 Air |
| A ring with no data subscription and optional add-ons | Ultrahuman Ring AIR |
| A screen and workout tracking | Apple Watch |
| A band with multi-day battery | Polar Loop or Amazfit Helio Strap |
| No wearable for now | iPhone app with camera HRV |
| Oura's full software and AI features | Oura with membership |
Summary of the options above.
Check how each app scores sleep before you commit. A good score shows its inputs, uses your own baseline and explains changes. Our guide to what a sleep score measures explains what to look for.
How Svanu fits as an Oura alternative
Svanu is an iPhone app with an Apple Watch app, not a ring. It reads Apple Health, so it works with Apple Watch and with other devices that write there, including Oura through its Apple Health sync. On iPhone alone it uses steps, camera HRV, sleep from Apple Health and a daily check-in. If no device writes HRV, recovery uses resting heart rate and sleep.
The sleep score runs from 0 to 100 (duration 50%, stage quality 30%, bedtime consistency 20%), and the sleep screen shows stages, sleep debt and tonight's bedtime. All scores are computed on your iPhone, with no sign-up. The core is free; Pro is $2.99 a month or $19.99 a year with a 7-day free trial. More on the Svanu home page.

Frequently asked questions
Do you need a subscription for Oura?
To get the full experience, yes. Oura lists its membership at $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US, with the first month free. Oura says the ring and app still work without membership, but insights are much more limited.
What is the best Oura ring alternative without a subscription?
Among rings checked for this guide, RingConn Gen 2 Air ($199) lists its subscription fee as free, and Ultrahuman says there are no recurring subscription fees for accessing your data (Ring AIR $349). Both are one-time purchases according to their makers.
Is Apple Watch a good alternative to Oura?
For iPhone users who are fine wearing a watch to bed, yes. Apple Watch tracks sleep with a sleep score and overnight vitals, and Series 12 and Ultra 4 include a Readiness app. The trade-off is daily charging versus multi-day ring battery.
Can I track sleep and HRV without a ring or watch?
Partly. An iPhone app can measure HRV with the camera in 20 to 30 seconds, and sleep can come from any device that writes to Apple Health. Without any wearable, sleep data is limited, so this route suits people testing whether tracking helps them.
Can I keep my Oura data if I cancel?
Oura says that even without a membership you can export all your Oura data in CSV format through its Membership Hub. Your account data stays saved if you do not delete your account.
